Día de la Paz

Adam's school asked all the parents of foreign kids to bring in some things from their home countries - like clothes, sweets, money, shopping bags, maps - for an exhibition to learn about other cultures. I'm sure they expected me to turn up in some kind of tartan ensemble but (fortunately for me) I own no tartan clothing!

Kids loved dressing my wee ginger laminated Scotsman! Most of the parents and teachers I spoke to were only interested in asking if it was true that Steven really wore NO pants under a kilt! Steven says he is proud to be a true Scotsman...

Profesor de Inglés

If we decide to head to the coast for a weekend then Adam skips school on the Friday (and the teacher is not bothered at all - she doesn't even want to know he's not coming in - so finally now, I don't even tell her!) and Adam and I visit the park while Steven teaches his one and only (worst behaved) Friday class. Check out Steven's rope - trying to keep some kind of order as he takes them back to their Spanish school after their English lesson.

snow

Adam was not happy to hear that his cousins and friends in Scotland were all having lots of snow every day when we only had 1 day of snow before it got washed away. We decided to head out for a car picnic and see if we could find some as well. Wasn't long before we hit 0º and snow - just a shame I forgot his wellies!

Los Reyes Magos

We were back in Cehegín to see the parade marking the arrival of the 3 kings. It's a bit too loud for Adam's sensitive ears but he coped better this year than last. He managed to catch a few toys, sweets and footballs so was very happy. He also received a gift of a candy grabber machine from "los Reyes Magos" the following day and is now a master at getting the sweets out but doesn't actually eat them! He puts them in a tub and is saving them for the next halloween with his friends!

Fuente Alamo

We went to Fuente Alamo to give a New Year visit to Granny & Grandad Rooney. The town of Alcalá La Real has the best wall decor I've seen yet - on the walls of the entrance to the underground car park! Apparently these Spanish gents sit on the wall beside this all the time and are now a permanent fixture...

Even in a tiny village like Fuente Alamo they still had a parade (albeit with one "float") in celebration of el día de los Reyes Magos. Adam was speechless at the old Spanish grannies who were pushing him out of the way so they could catch more sweets and toys with their upturned brollies!

parque ecológico

Adam decided against having another go on the rope slide and opted for a 1.5km walk around the park instead. No jackets required! SO different from a New Year in Edinburgh...

New Years Day

New Years Day weather was lovely and warm so we took a drive to Águilas for lunch where Adam found some more stones on the beach to add to his (now very heavy) collection.
